  • Selden Wheeler
    General Manager

Selden graduated from Charleston Christian Academy. His desire to enter the work force directly after high school brought him to Darling's where his career began and continues today.

He began as a full time express lube tech where he was able to hone his automotive skills on the job. Selden's desire to improve his skills gained him a promotion to a general line technician. His hard work and continued dedication to learning brought Selden another promotion where he became a transmission technician.

After 24 years as a technician for Darling's Ford VW Audi he decided he would like to become more involved in the day-to-day business of the service department. Beginning as a service writer it wasn't long before Selden was promoted to a team leader position and then to service manager.  In this position Darling's wanted him to gain experience at all locations so he worked in this capacity at the Ellsworth location as well as both Bangor locations. Selden has brought all of his automotive and management experience to Darling's Ford VW Audi and Darling's Honda Nissan Volvo and now oversees both service departments as the Service Director of Bangor Operations.

His interests include farming (he has fainting goats!), mountain biking, woodworking, and spending time with his family. Selden lives with his family in Orrington.

  • Jim Prescott
    Sales Manager

Jim's career at Darling's spans over 48 years and he has worked in almost every business and building Darling's has owned!

He is a Bangor High School graduate whose working career began directly after high school. Jim even worked up north for short time driving hammer for the Railroad. This job required him to live onsite with the crew because of its rural location. At 17 Jim realized this was not the job for him!

Jim began working at Darling's Rec Division at age 19. For many years he worked with Owen Darling, founder of Darling's, and his son, John Darling, semi-retired, current owner of Darling's Family of Businesses. The Rec Division held such franchises as Triumph motorcycles as well as Kawasaki and Yamaha. They also sold boats and motorhomes. Jim became manager of the Rec Division at its Center Street location. The Rec Division moved to a new building on Center Street before moving into a brand new building on the Griffin Road. The Griffin Road building also became home to a new Datsun automobile franchise. Datsun was eventually bought out by Nissan and the Rec Division was relocated to a building on the Perry Road. Wanting a building that was more conducive to an automobile dealership Darling's built a new building on the Sylvan Road for the Nissan franchise. Jim managed the Sylvan Road location for many years and helped to facilitate the expansion of the dealership and the addition of the Honda and Volvo franchises.

Jim's knowledge of the Honda, Nissan, and Volvo products makes him a great liaison for our sales staff and our customers. We appreciate all of his historical knowledge too!

He loves spending time with his family and enjoys being at his camp on Beech Hill Pond as much as possible. Jim and his wife, Terri, live in Orrington.

  • Nick Spann
    F&I Business Manager

I am a proud Mainer raised in Holden. After graduating, I studied Business management at the University of Maine, Orono. I put my skills to good use in the restaurant business working for 15 years at various locations in the Bangor and Bar Harbor area. I worked in most aspects of the restaurant ending my career as a manager for Bugaboo Creek. When the Bangor location closed in 2016, I took a month off to find what I wanted for my next chapter. My good friend, Karen French encouraged me to look at Darling's. I gave Darling's a shot not long after starting as a Sales Representative.

One restaurant in particular has a special place in my heart, Olive Garden. It was here my future wife began working alongside me. It was love at first pasta and we have been together ever since. My wife Ambrosia and I call Bangor home with our two sons, Jameson and Jacoby. Our home is filled with laughter and cheers for our favorite sports teams! Our Old English Bulldog Remy loves to cheer on the Red Sox with us along with the Packers, Celtics, and Bruins. When we are not supporting our teams, my family loves to adventure where we are exploring new places in the United States every year. When I have the chance, I love to golf and ice fish for my Nick time.

Lee began as a vehicle sales representative and was promoted to an F&I Business Manager. His positive and easy-going attitude make Lee a great person to help our customers through the finance and insurance process.

Lee lives with his wife and two children and enjoys spending his free time with them.

  • Brian Perry

I am a born Mainer and was raised in Michigan and Maine. My father was in the Coast Guard, which led us to Portland, Michigan and eventually Hermon, Maine. My home is Bucksport now, where I live with my wonderful family: my wife, Ashley, our two boys, Tanner and Tucker, and our rescue dog, Tessi. In the summer, we spend as much time as possible outside where we enjoy adventures four-wheeling or relaxing at our camp in Amherst. In the winter, we cherish the snow; I love to snowboard.

Darling's has become my second family, where everyone knows your name. I am most proud to work for a company that gives back to my community. Kathy continued to work with Ground Round IOC on new restaurant openings, but realized being away for over a month was too much for her family.  She accepted another similar position locally but was dissatisfied with their level of commitment to customer and employee satisfaction. Her husband has worked with Geoff Johnson, General Manager of Darling's Honda Nissan, over the years on some building projects so when Geoff told her husband he wanted her to call Kathy says she laughed at the thought of selling cars, but said why not. • Ryan Tesseo
    Sales Representative

I am a born and raised Mainer from Orrington, Maine. After graduation, I studied business at EMCC and Husson University. Darling's has always been a part of my world, as my father continues to work for the company. My father taught me that to learn the most about the dealership, you have to understand all aspects of it. Taking his advice, I started working in the Ford Service Department in 2013 as an Assistant Team Service Manager. I continued to learn about the service side at our Augusta and Ellsworth dealerships until 2018. In 2018, I began my journey as a sales representative at Darling's Honda.

My home is Hermon now where I live with my other half, Elizabeth. When I am not at the dealership, I love spending time with my family. In the summer, we enjoy time outside whether boating or just hanging out. One of my favorite summer activities is spending time with my dad riding his vintage motorcycle. In the winter, I most enjoy my time on the ice. Hockey has been a big part of my life and I enjoy giving back as a volunteer for the Adult Learn to Skate Learn to Play Program.  I also enjoy playing on a local Men's League Hockey team.

In my family, I was taught to be genuine and to treat everyone like family. These values are what I find at Darling's and I always have someone who listens and is there to help me succeed. Darling's genuinely cares for their community and their employees. I always want to give the same kindness back to my customers. Feel free to reach out anytime; I am here to listen and find the best vehicle for your needs.

  • Sam Jones
    Sales Representative

I was born in Pennsylvania and raised in West Virginia. After graduation, I adventured for a year to Australia, designing and manufacturing custom signage. When I returned to the States, I followed my passion for vehicles at a local shop in West Virginia where I worked in service as a team service manager and sales representative.

Not long after, I started my own construction company with a high school friend on Long Island. But the New York atmosphere was not for me, so I took another leap and moved to Maine. While my Honda was in for service, I found the experience of Darling's was unlike any dealership. The team convinced me in 2019 to join the family as a sales representative.

My home is Orono now, where I live with my girlfriend. Outside the office, I love modifying trucks, hunting, fishing, outdoor exploring and watching Formula One racing.  One of my favorite projects was turning a 1999 Explorer into a rock crawler which enabled my friends and me to go on many exciting (and sometimes harrowing) off-road escapades.

I love the atmosphere at Darling's. For both employees and customers, this is a place of great caring.  Everyone deserves the best customer experience in finding the perfect vehicle, and that is what I strive to do! Feel free to reach out anytime!

  • Steve Cochran

I was born in Westfield, New York. I attended Jameson Community College studying English, Psychology and Marketing. After the Army, I worked a few different jobs in the New York area, gaining great experience for Darling's. I worked as a Team Service Manager and in Warranty before making my move to Maine and Darling's in 2018 as a sales representative.

My home is Corinth, Maine now where I live with my Mini Australian Shepherd dog named Thor.  Outside the office I love volunteering for any of the Darling's sponsored sports teams. I also body build competitively and have won many competitions including The Mr. and Mrs. Buffalo Competition winner for overall Men's Classic Physique. When I need some chill time, I enjoy hanging out with Thor.

Darling's is an incredible company. When I started, the atmosphere was filled with people who truly cared. I felt for the first time that this was a place where I could have a career. My customers are what I most enjoy because I want to take care of them. It's more than just a vehicle sale, it's knowing Darling's is there for you even after you leave the lot. • Thom Lloyd
    Sales Representative

Though I am not a born Mainer, I am happy to be a transplant! I grew up in upstate New York. After graduation, I served in the Navy for four years. After the Navy, I grew in many different fields with one similar factor, Customer Service. Along my journey, I was an electrician, an insurance adjuster, an environmental trainer and even owned a business. I would like to say I have been helping people since 1987. Before coming to Darling's I was working at Lowes and desired to work for a Maine family owned business who cared. Finding a place at Darling's Honda, I began as a Sales Representative in 2019.

My Maine journey started in 1986 when my wonderful wife Jenifer and I honeymooned in Maine. We fell in love with the state and decided this was our forever home. Hampden is our home now, where we raised two grown daughters and where our two grandkids visit Pops and GG. We fell in love with the beauty of Maine and continue to enjoy the outdoors, kayaking, biking, mountain climbing and more! When we are not adventuring, we are proudly volunteering with the Champion the Cure Challenge.

I am honored to work at Darling's, whose reputation exceeds expectations. People are genuine, kind, supportive and giving. It is a place where I am proud to be there for my customers, because Darling's is there for my community and me. Feel free to reach out anytime, it is my sincere desire to assist in any way I can.

  • Tom Lopez
    Sales Representative

Born in Syracuse, New York and raised in South Bend, Indiana, I became one of the "Fighting Irish," after graduating with a BA in Irish Literature from the University of Notre Dame in 1998.  Upon graduation, I moved to Austin, Texas where I worked in the tech industry. After ten years I followed my creative side and moved to Seattle where I worked as a freelance writer a number of years.

I started grant writing for the University of Notre Dame which led to a decade's worth of work in fundraising and development in the Non-Profit Sector culminating with work for various groups and initiatives in Washington DC.

In 2016, I joined a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Baltimore, Maryland, with the belief that it would be easier to sell a thing rather than idea and fell in love with the Auto Industry. My journey brought me to Maine in 2019 when my fiancé was offered a position in the cardiac ICU of EMMC. After careful research Darling's stood out as an employer whose focus on their employees, customers and community was beyond compare in the area.

Currently I reside in Winterport, ME, with my fiancé, our Newfoundland Ronan, and cat Eileen FitzCatric, Destroyer of Worlds. We continue to enjoy exploring local vineyards, restaurants and antique shops.

My goal is always to provide my customers with access to the Auto Industry on their terms and at their pace. Darling's commitment to the customer experience and community service gives customers access to more than just a vehicle. They support their customers with insurance, service, parts and more. This makes the difference. It's no longer about selling a vehicle, it's about caring. Feel free to reach out to me anytime

Darling's Honda Nissan Volvo and is instrumental in supporting our team and our customers.

Nancy loves spending time with her grandchildren and being at her camp with family.

  • Brad Gonya
    Team Service Manager

I am a Mainer, born and raised between Millinocket and Brewer. After graduation, I served in the United States Air Force for 12 years. During this time, I also received my Bachelors in Communications/Marketing from the University of Southern Maine and my Associates degree in Aerospace Maintenance Technology. After my military service, I became a manager at Enterprise in Portland, Maine.

At Enterprise, I learned a valuable lesson about my future career: I did not want to be at a desk all day. My next chapter led me to a more hands-on career in the automotive industry. I became a Service Writer in both New Hampshire and New Orleans. My wife and I needed a change of pace and decided our future was in Maine to raise our family. In 2018, I found my Darling's family and started as a Team Service Manager.

My family is my world. Our little family includes my wife Liz, our son Liam and cat Dexter. Both Dexter and Liam keep us busy and entertained most every day. Dexter is particularly mischievous and fits his name very well.  Music is my passion and was in a band for many years as a guitarist and vocalist. One of my most precious guitars is my 1973 Martin. I also enjoy golf, basketball, camping and motorcycles.

I am proud to be a part of the Darling's family. Dealerships I worked with in the past only cared about the bottom line. At Darling's it is about the people. Darling's truly cares for its customers and employees. For me, like family, I want to be there for my customers. It is my goal that every customer leaves service comfortable and confident in their vehicle. Feel free to reach out anytime.

After graduating from Hermon High School, I began work on the operations side of banking for five years. My next five-year adventure was working on the real estate side of Eaton Peabody. Before finding my home at Darling's in 2018, I worked at U.S. Cellular in Bangor for 20 years.

My home is Levant now where I live with my mom, her two dogs and a Flame Point Siamese cat named Pete. I also have a grown daughter who works and lives in Bangor. Outside the office, I love camping, fishing and traveling. My favorite travel spot is anywhere where there is a beach and the weather is warm. I often travel to Florida a few times a year to beat the Maine winter.

Darling's was a new adventure in my world after 20 years at the same job. I needed a change and found a family at Darling's.  Here the people are kind and work is fun! I want to share this feeling with my customers. It is my job to ensure our customers know they are important to us and I hope to welcome everyone to the family. Feel free to reach out anytime.

  • Jim Lewis
    TSM Assistant

I was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida. After graduation, I joined the United States Marine Corps. For 29 years, I served all over the world. I was last stationed in Beaufort, South Carolina before moving closer to family in Hillsborough, New Hampshire. In New Hampshire, I worked at a local Chevrolet dealership as service manager. After 14 years, another change was in store, moving to Bangor, Maine in 2019.  Shortly after, I started at Darling's as a TSM Assistant.

My home is Winterport now where I live with my wonderful wife. Our life is filled with family and many pets. We enjoy our time with our two cats named Tabby and Chloe, a beagle terrier mix named Bella, tropical fish and three coops full of chickens. Outside the dealership, I like working on small equipment, gardening and cheering on my favorite sports teams. Even though I grew up in Florida, I have always been a fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Alabama College Football.

I am proud to work at Darling's, where they truly take care of their people. Alongside my teammates, I enjoy fixing vehicle issues and, most importantly, helping the customer. Often times corporate America seems to forget the customer--Darling's does not. They are a local company that cares for their community. They are unique in their business because of the services offered beyond vehicle sales. Darling's gives customers service, insurance, rental and parts options, ensuring support for every vehicle need. It is this support I give back to my customers each day. It is more than service; it is making sure customers are taken care of. Feel free to reach out anytime.

  • Kelly Ray

Kelly is from Carmel and graduated from Hermon High School. Kelly was also a member of the Carmel Volunteer Fire Department.

He earned his degree in the automotive industry as a technician and shortly thereafter began working as a tech at Darling's. His desire to work directly with customers and to become a liaison on their behalf with our technicians lead Kelly to apply for a team service manager position when one became available. Kelly's knowledge of what's under the hood is a valuable resource for his team and his customers.

Kelly likes hiking and enjoys traveling the state with his fiancé looking at all of the beautiful scenery Maine has to offer.

His move back to Maine and his desire to work with people took him into the bar and food service industry. When an opportunity opened up a Darling's one of Dylan's friends, who is also an employee, encouraged him to apply. This job was for a parts counterperson/delivery driver. • Mike Colford
    Parts Counter Person

Saying Mike is a native of Bangor doesn't quite sum it up! He was born in Bangor, grew up here, graduated from Bangor High School and currently resides in Bangor with his wife and children.

After high school he attended the University of Maine/Augusta. Mike's work history began in the culinary arts field at a local nursing facility where he was a cook for six years. His friend who was a long time Darling's employee encouraged him to apply for an open position at the former location of our Nissan Dealership on the Griffin Road in Bangor. Mike has been working for Darling's for 30 years and is able to provide our parts customers with super-efficient service. It's possible he knows where every nut and bolt is located!

Mike loves spending time with his family. He also enjoys baseball and coaching his children's teams.

  • Renee Medeiros
    Parts Counter Person

I am a born and raised Mainer, originally from Old Town. One of my first jobs was for Darling's working full time as a Parts Counter Person, while also working part time at Wendy's in Orono. In September 2015 after about six month of two jobs, I gladly continued with Darling's as a full time Parts Counter Person.

My home is Bradley now, where I live with my incredible family. Our family includes my other half Bryan, our son, Oliver, and our dogs: a golden doodle named Luke and a chocolate lab named Jake. We love our adventures together, especially our time on the coast. Bar Harbor is one of our favorite locations to adventure as a family.

My Darling's family is also very special. Here I know I am valued by everyone at the company; I am more than just an employee. I am a part of the family. This down-to-earth experience is what I want to give back to my customers. Parts knowledge is just as important as treating my customers like family. Please feel free to reach out anytime.

  • Romie Doucette
    Parts Counter Person

Romie is a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School. He worked locally until his enlistment in the US Army. After his stint in the military Romie began working in the automotive industry at a local parts store. One of Romie's parts jobs was actually at a satellite store owned by a formerly owned Darling's company, Parts Wholesalers.

Having heard about Romie's skills and work ethic our service/parts manager at the time reached out to him to see if he was interested in coming to work at Darling's. We are pleased to say he accepted the job and has been serving our parts customers since 1995!

Romie says the Darling's family is top shelf - great people to work for and that's why he's been with the company for 23 years!

He and his son enjoy restoring vehicles from the 40's, 50's, and 60's especially old military vehicles. Romie and his wife are proud parents of three adult children. They reside in Brewer with 2 spoiled cats and 2 very spoiled pugs.
